We are very proud to help mature and older adults with balance and mobility problems move better, regain strength with better balance. Good balance, mobility and strength is essential to successful aging, functional health and independence. This is why we are excited to offerthe FallProof the nationally award winningBalance and Mobility training program that has shown to improve balance and mobility and reduce the risk of falls among older adults.
FallProof will be beneficial to you when to you have any of the following conditions: a loss in balance and mobility due to the aging process, a loss in muscle strength, stroke, diabetes, hip or knee replacement, long-term illness or bed rest, Parkinson's disease, arthritis, osteoarthritis, due to side effects of cancer treatment or other medications, heart disease, osteoporosis or osteopenia, and a history of falls. The FallProof program was recognized in 2003 by the National Council on Aging as one of seven examplanary model programs and was developed by Debra J. Rose, Ph.D, the Director of the Center for Succesful Aging at California State University (CSU) Fullerton.
Upper and lower body strength, flexibility and endurance are systematically incorporated into the program in combination with the balance and mobility activities. We challenge, but not exceed your capabilities and systematically introduce balance and mobility tasks that are performed in a variety of practice environments that simulate those encountered during daily life.
The FallProof Balance and Mobility Training program content focuses on elevating the function of the sensory, motor, and cognitive systems through four core program components: 1) volitional and non-volitional control of the center of gravity 2) sensory reception and integration skills 3) selection and scaling of postural control strategies 4) development of a flexible and adaptable gait pattern.
We are passionate to offer individualized one-on-one private and small group balance and mobility training, we come to your home, senior residential facility, assisted living or foster home.
How you can start: 1) Initial consultation: we sit down and discuss your wellness goal and obtain medical release from your health care provider. We need you to complete a comprehensive health, medical and activity history so that we provide safe and effective exercise training.
2)Schedule assessment: comprehensive balance, mobility and strength assessments help us determine the appropriate level of exercise training and also monitor change over time.
