Jacqueline Sinke - Health Fitness Pro and Business Owner

As a fitness professional Jacqueline believes  that physical well-being is the foundation for a long, happy, successful and healthy life. With over 32 years as a certified health and fitness professional she has extensive experience developing physical activity interventions for chronic health conditions and provides evidence-based health, exercise, and lifestyle programming for individuals who are at risk for, living with, or recovering from a variety of diseases, disorders, and conditions.

 

Jacqueline has extensive experience working with clients in corporate fitness, worked in exercise research with Wayne Westcott PhD in Quincy MA., worked for the federal government working with active duty, retired military and DoD personnel. She has work with children, teens, corporate executives, athletes, and healthcare providers.

In the early 2000's she designed senior exercise programs that were implemented in over 20 senior living communities, and designed and implemented seven successful exercise specialty programs that she instructed twice a week at a local senior center in addition to wellness presentations.

 

Jacqueline specializes in exercise for mature, mid-life and older adults with chronic medical conditions, illness, and the prevention thereof, and is a senior fitness consultant.  She carefully tailors exercise programs to meet the need of each client's unique need.  

 

She was an American Heartsaver First aid CPR and AED instructor over 16 years and provided classes for the American Council on Exercise and for the "Heartquarter" or headquarter of the American Heart Association.

Jacqueline launched Fitness & Function in 2003 with the desire to bring highly specialized and personalized exercise to her clients in the privacy of their home. She expanded the business to a team of
highly qualified personal trainers, health coaches, medical exercise specialists and licensed physical therapists to meet the needs of each client.

 

Jacqueline was born in The Netherlands and a resident and now citizen of the United States for over 35 years. She has been an active volunteer for the NW Bicycle Safety Council for over 15 years and currently serves on the Executive Board as the Fitness Expert. In the past she served as the Treasurer and was a member of the Advisory Board.  She has made several TV appearances on the Cycology Today show for her expertise in health and fitness. Jacqueline currently volunteers for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). She belongs to a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm and strives to eat in a local, seasonal, and sustainable way. Jacqueline has two adult daughters, two grandchildren, and enjoys hiking, cycling and travel.

  • Jacqueline received honorable mention in the 2002 NuStep Pinnacle Award for developing older adult programs that go above and beyond the standard wellness programs offered. 

  • In 2003 her Falls Prevention Training workshop was accepted by Oregon Department of Human Services for continued education credits for adult foster home providers.

  • In 1997 she received the "Support Personnel Award" from the Greater Boston Federal Executive Board in recognition and appreciation for outstanding contributions to the federal government.

  • First Aid, CPR and AED Heartsaver Intstructor for the American Heart Association HeartQuarter

  • American Heart Association Heartsaver Instructor for the American Council on Exercise providing lifesaving courses for fitness professionals 

  • Supervisor of corporate fitness center First Hawaiian Bank Honolulu HI; personal trainer at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay.

  • Research fitness instructor for programs directed by Wayne Westcott PhD which included children, teens, athletes, older adults and individuals with medical conditions. She trained new staff, supervised the fitness center, assisted Dr. Wayne Westcott with the 1996 IDEA Pre-Conference on high intensity strength training techniques for fitness professionals, and developed free-weight exercise training programs for women only.

  • Jacqueline instructed fitness classes and provided personal fitness training to active duty, retired military and DoD personnel at NAS South Weymouth.  

  • 1998 to 2001 was contracted Fitness Consultant for CCL and developed functional fitness programs for 16 assisted and independent living facilities, performed staff training and quality assurance assessments.

  • In 2004 Jacqueline was recognized as an IDEA Master Personal Fitness Trainer
